If you are curious you should read Devilman:Lady ,its a direct sequel to Devilman with a new time loop but where things are very very different (the twist still hurts my head)īut in short, Ryo is Satan, Satan is an angel that rebelled against God, its explained in one of the other manga's that Prince Lucifer became fused with a human girl and a horse (?) and believed instead of killing of Demons, this is all part of evolution, this pissed God of and he caused Ryo/Satan to be in a repeatable timeloop where he kills his childhood friend / crush (yes he's in love with Akira the manga clearry stated that, and the director of Crybaby even said the main theme of the show is love) Ryo forcing Akira to fuse with a demon was his own subconscious self to make sure Akira would survive his future plan to end humanity. I haven’t read the manga, so maybe it’s totally different and I’m giving you useless information, I don’t know. So in anime it’s sure that the timeloop happened. The scene repeats a few times, it shows how Ryo can’t be connected to Akira because he destroys the world infinite amount of times and has to feel the pain of killing his childhood friend every single time. Miki passes the baton to Akira, but when Akira tries to pass it to Ryo, he doesn’t take it from him. The scene with Akira, Miki, Ryo and the baton has a hidden meaning about the timeloop too.
In anime, giant explosions of light destroyed the world, and then it appeared again. From what I understood, God trapped Ryo in an endless loop of pain, where Akira dies and he must feel the loneliness.
The timeloop occurs after everyone but Ryo dies. I’m not good at interpretation, but I will try, someone, correct me if I’m wrong please.
